Shankweiler's Drive-In, established in 1934, is the oldest operating drive-in theater in the world. For over 90 years, it has delighted audiences with double features on its large outdoor screen. Shankweiler’s was recently awarded BEST DRIVE-IN THEATER in the 2026 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
Our drive-in theater is located in the Lehigh Valley, Orefield, Pennsylvania, just off Route 309.

Starts Friday, June 5, Shankweiler's Drive-In is premiering MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, a live‑action reimagining of the beloved and iconic 1980s series and franchise. After intermission, we trade far‑away planets for other, more foreboding planes of existence with A24’s new liminal sci‑fi thriller, BACKROOMS!

We’re teaming up with our friends at the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center for a special Retro Tuesday screening of 2005's movie adaptation of the groundbreaking musical, RENT. You're invited to sing and dance along during this electrifying outdoor movie event!
Gates open at 7:30 PM. The Bradbury Sullivan Center will have a setup on the drive-in lot with swag and information.

Saturday, June 13, from 10:00am-3:00pm: Join us for our first ever ANALOG MARKET! This event is free to attend and serves as a celebration of a time when the media you bought was yours. No subscriptions, no buffering, no expiration. Just movies, music, and games that live in your house, car, or pocket, ready to be enjoyed whenever and however you like. Vendors at this boutique market will sell new and vintage physical media, tabletop games, books, art, and more!
We have recently partnered with South Whitehall Civic Alliance, a local non-profit community group that is opposing a hyper-scale data center that's planned near the theater and located directly across from Parkland Highschool. A portion of our vendor fees for this market will be used to help offset their legal costs and protect the safety of our neighbors and natural resources.
