Shankweiler's Drive-In, established in 1934, is the oldest operating drive-in theater in the world. For over 90 years, it has delighted audiences with double features on its large outdoor screen. Shankweiler’s was recently awarded BEST DRIVE-IN THEATER in the 2026 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
Our drive-in theater is located in the Lehigh Valley, Orefield, Pennsylvania, just off Route 309.

Starting Friday, May 29, THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU continue their Star Wars adventure under the actual stars at our drive-in. After intermission, a highly anticipated new release comes to our giant outdoor screen. We are thrilled to debut A24's cinematic adaptation of the internet's favorite liminal creepypasta turned popular web series, BACKROOMS!

Starts Friday, June 5, Shankweiler's Drive-In is premiering MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, a live‑action reimagining of the beloved and iconic 1980s series and franchise. After intermission, we trade far‑away planets for other, more foreboding planes of existence with A24’s new liminal sci‑fi thriller, BACKROOMS!

We’re teaming up with our friends at the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center for a special Retro Tuesday screening of 2005's movie adaptation of the groundbreaking musical, RENT. You're invited to sing and dance along during this electrifying outdoor movie event!
Gates open at 7:30 PM. The Bradbury Sullivan Center will have a setup on the drive-in lot with swag and information.
